Biography

I am Ibn Alhaytham Distinguished Professor of Chemical Science, at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I was selected every year from 2014 to 2023 as Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers and the world’s most influenced scientific minds (2014). I have published over 350 publications with over 97000 citations and have a h-index= 121 (google Scholar). I also have over 50 granted patents.

I was awarded the Kuwait Prize, field of ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ (April 2024), the Almaraii Prize for Distinguished Scientist (November 2020) and the Abdul Hameed Shoman Prize for Arab Researchers, topic 'Renewable Energy'. (September 2019).

My research interests’ are aimed at developing new strategies for Reticular ÀË»¨Ö±²¥, the rational design and construction of functional solid state materials. Design and synthesis of functional porous solids for Energy and Environmental Sustainability: Hydrogen storage, Methane storage, CO2 capture and Direct Air Capture (DAC). Design and synthesis of functional Adsorbents and Membranes, proffering energy-efficient and cost-effective Gas Separations.
