Biography
I am a Full Professor for Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Bonn, Germany. Research in my group focuses on the development and application of tools using synthetic chemistry and molecular cell biology to study and target phosphatases in health and disease.
I studied chemistry at the University of Kiel and moved afterwards to the Max-Planck-Institute and the University in Dortmund, Germany, where I obtained my Ph.D. in 2005. After my postdoctoral work at Harvard University, I started my independent career in 2007 as a group leader at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany. Before moving to my current position at the University of Bonn, I held a Full Professor position at the University of Freiburg, Germany, from 2016 - 2024.
