Joel Thornton

Biography
Joel Thornton is a professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington. He received a BA with a major in ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ in 1996 from Dartmouth College followed by a PhD in ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ with an emphasis in atmospheric chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto, he joined the faculty in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington in 2004. His research interests include atmospheric multi-phase chemistry, particulate matter formation and growth, aerosol-cloud interactions, and the impacts of these on air quality and climate.
