ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ journal citation reports released

has released the 2025 update to the (JCR), marking the 50th anniversary of the annual reports.

A number of ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ journals received their first Journal Impact Factors (JIFs), with strong first JIFs for EES Catalysis (8.1), Industrial ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ & Materials (11.9) and RSC Sustainability (4.9). A fourth journal, Sustainable Food Technology will receive its first JIF in October this year, which is provisionally expected to be 5.3.

In particular, the 2025 update to the JCR shows impressive increases for a number of our open access journals, including the biggest RSC journal, RSC Advances, which sees a rise of 18% to 4.6 – the highest JIF for the journal to date.

As an indicator of consistent quality across the whole portfolio, 92% of ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ journals are positioned in Q1 or Q2 of their relevant JCR categories.

Key highlights of Clarivate's 2025 Journal Citation Reports

Clarivate "has a strong focus on research integrity, in order to provide a robust tool to assess the trustworthiness and impact of global leading academic journals."

  • The JCR includes data from a total of 22,249 journals a³¦°ù´Ç²õ²õ 254 categories
  • Over 6,200 of these were published via gold open access 
  • Scholarly journals from 111 countries are recognised and receive a JIF, including 14,591 in the sciences and 7,559 in the social sciences, as well as 3,368 journals in the arts and humanities 
  • 618 journals receive a JIF for the first time
