Prof. Laine has been working in the field of surface and colloid (nano) chemistry of cellulose-based materials for about 15 years. He graduated from Helsinki University of Technology 1991 (MSc.) and finalized his PhD-work 1996. Then he worked five years at the Swedish Pulp and Paper Research Institute (STFI) as a principal scientist in the paper chemistry group. In 2001 prof. Laine returned to the Laboratory of Forest Products ÀË»¨Ö±²¥ at the Helsinki University of Technology. He was appointed as professor 2003. Prof. Laine interest is focused on characterization of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) and creating new potential nanocellulosic materials.
